The nominees have been announced for this year’s BET Awards. Our very own dancehall queen Mzvee has been nominated in this year’s category of Best International Act Africa.
The announcement was made on the official Instagram account of the BET Africa page and Mzvee was the only Ghanaian to be nominated this year.
Mzvee is the first female musician to be nominated from Ghana at the BET Awards and will he competing with Wizkid, Yemi Alade, Diamond Platinum, Cassper Nyovest, Black Coffee and AKA.
It would be recalled that, she was also nominated in the Viewers Choice Best International Category last year at the BET, a category which was introduced last year.

Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda aka MzVee has said that her 2016 BET nomination shows that there is hope for the ladies in Ghana’s music industry.
After expressing her excitement in an exclusive interview with Jeremie on the LBC on Live 91.9 FM, she said; “my nomination is just to tell the ladies out there not to give up in their careers. There is hope and they should keep doing what they are doing and work hard.”
In the history of Ghana, Mzvee is the first Ghanaian female to have been nominated in BET’s ‘Best International Act Africa’ category.
Her exit words to her fans, she thanked them for their support and promised not to let them down.
This is her second nomination at the awards scheme after she was nominated in the ‘Best New International Artist Viewers’ Choice Award’ category last year.
The ‘Natural Girl’ artiste will be competing against South Africans AKA, Cassper Nyovest and Black Coffee, Nigerians Wizkid and Yemi Alade, Tanzanian Diamond Platinumz and Ivorian Serge Beynaud.
The 2016 BET Awards will take place at the Microsoft Theater In Los Angeles, United States of America on Sunday, June 26.
