Wiz Khalifa, one of hip-hop’s stoned elite, has no regrets or anything to apologize for, really, following his Twitter scuffle with Kanye West. The timeline entertainment, which followed ‘Ye’s announcement to maybe call his seventh album Waves in January, blew up into a back-and-forth war of words between the two rappers.
In February, the two seemed to patch things up behind closed doors and far away from Internet judgment. “Yes, he apologized and I accept his apology, and everything’s all good,” Wiz told Power 105.1’s Angie Martinez. “Ain’t no animosity.”
Khalifa essentially voices the same sentiments for his latest feature in GQ. Sample blurb:
Even Kanye’s hashtag #Wizwearscoolpants doesn’t bring Wiz to anger. “It don’t matter,” he said. “When shit don’t matter, it don’t faze you.”
What does matter to the Pittsburgh rhymer, though — whose affinity for weed and the finer things have accumulated his own fanbase, affectionately dubbed the Taylors — is being about his business. Dabbling into DJ territory, Wiz broke down his moniker on the 1’s and 2’s, DJ Daddy Kat.
“The alias is just so I could excel at something different the same way I did at rap,” he offers. “It’s like ‘Cat Daddy’ backwards. I listen to a lot of old-school shit. So it’s like ‘Cat Daddy,’ but I put it backwards ’cos I want bitches to call me ‘Daddy.’”
